How to Set Up Your Roku Device

If you want to set up your Roku device, first go and plug it into an HDMI port on your TV and a power outlet at your home. Now follow the on-screen instructions which come up using your remote. Once you are prompted, you need to enter your email address first and then follow the onscreen instructions to set up your Roku device.

1. Plug your Roku Device into your TV’s HDMI port, and if you have a streaming box with you, then you will have to use an HDMI cord.

2. Then, you will have to plug your Roku player device into a power source available, the one that is a player should have come with a power cable or you can say a micro USB cable and a wall charger.

3.  Now, you will need to turn on your TV and will have to set it to Roku’s HDMI channel, and this channel will also have to correspond to the number next to the HDMI port, where you have plugged your device earlier. You can also change your TV’s HDMI channel just by pressing the Input, Video, or Source button on your regular TV remote. You will get to know that you are on the right channel when you will see the Roku setup screen.

 4.  After this, select your language in the Roku setup screen, and now you can scroll with the up and down buttons present on your remote and can easily select a language by clicking the OK button.

5. You can choose either Wired or Wireless. If you will choose Wired, then you can easily skip the next step, but you can only choose this if your Roku player has been hooked up to your router with an Ethernet cable.

6.  Now, you will need to choose your WiFi network, enter the password, and then select Connect. If somehow you are not able to see your WiFi network, then scroll down and select the Scan again option to see all networks.

7.  Enter your WiFi password and then select Connect, you can use your remote to enter your WiFi password.

8.  Now, select Auto-detect display type, after that your Roku will then display information related to your TV’s resolution and frame rate.

9. Next, there comes a page, so select Yes, the screen looks good, and if you will select No, then there is I will choose a different setting, or you need to wait until the timer runs out, and you will be able to manually change your settings.

10. After you are done with all this, Next select Enter Your email address and fill up your email address with the help of your remote, and select Continue.

11.  Once you are done with filling up your email address then, you will be sent a link. This link will expire in 15 minutes, so you need to check your email fast.

12.  Now, go to your email inbox and open the email from Roku. You can also do this from a computer or a smartphone. If in case you don’t see an email, then try checking your spam folder.

13.  Then, click on the link in your email and then, the link will come under the text “Roku Device Activation” Link, this will open a new browser window.

14.  Now, sign up for a new Roku account by using the Roku.com/link and click Continue. In case you have already a Roku account, you can simply skip this step, otherwise, you will need to enter your first and last name, a password, your date of birth, and your gender into the blank fill up. You will also need to click the box pop-up to agree to the terms and conditions written and click the captcha box to prove that you are not a robot but a human. Your password may contain letters, numbers, and symbols, but it has to be between 8-16 characters long only.

15.  Now you need to name your device and select its location, so you can name your device whatever you want to. Although, you need to be sure to remember the name and location you have set up for your Roku device since you will need this information later, in case you want to control your Roku player with voice commands.

16.  Finally, at last, follow the on-screen instructions coming on your way, to finish setting up your Roku. Your Roku device will try to get you to install the channels and sign up for free trials in it. Then select Skip or Continue. You can add any of these channels to the list or sign up for free trials after your Roku device has been set up.
